Explosions in the Sky (A re-do)

Me and control, we have a love-hate relationship.

You see, I’m a kind of person who let things be.

I just let the nature and forces out there do whatever it is they want to do.

I’m not one who plan things.

I’m not one who grabs a hold of something. It has a lot of disadvantages being that way.

But whatever the outcome is, whatever I’m given, I’ll take it!

If it’s a good thing then I’m grateful. If it’s something bad then it’s a challenge, a lesson learned.

If the forces out there are taking too much time to provide me the thing that my heart desires, so be it!

I’ll wait. I know patience can be so cruel.

But when that time comes…

… victory and success will be delicious.

It will be magnificent.

It will be oh-so sweet.

The words here are excerpts, same words from a post a long time ago, which I titled “Explosions in the Sky“. Having this post now, the post turned out to be like a poetry in the making. 🙂 Over at the original post, I was reflecting fireworks with having better opportunity. Two years later, I have this exponentially bigger opportunity of witnessing the best fireworks display I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen many spectacular fireworks displays but none can hold a candle ( or in this case, a firework 🙂 ) to Yokohama’s Fireworks Festival.

I’m going to open up to you here. So far, I really can’t complain with life. I’m having a blast here in Japan. But one of a good number of frustrating things for me right now is that I can’t make promotion. I’ve been trying hard for the last couple of years to get to the next level, but I’m not having any luck. Economy is horrible, and competition is getting fiery. But you know what, I’ll stay optimistic and continue to try.  Just like this moment of capturing the most spectacular fireworks, maybe something out there’s ready to burst; maybe something magnificent and beautiful up there that would lighten up; and that maybe I’d be in for a big surprise. 😀 If not, c’est la vie, and it is something to celebrate about. 😉

  1. Great shots! As for the promotion, just keep working on it and I’m sure your time will come. Persistence is the key.

  2. Hi R – this does look like some serious fireworks – wow – and your photos were a color delight!
For about seven years our neighbors a street over had a huge 4th of July fireworks party – sometimes we would catch the end of it (coming home) and well – then one year we decided to stick around and grill and soak up their fireworks – that was the year they stopped! They do not have it any more – someone said they might have been in trouble because it really was maybe too high tech for home use – But sure was nice.

Anyhow – hang in there with any and all goals –
So often the thing we want or think would be best could end up pulling from our essence in the long run – I see this with jobs and careers a lot – people get the promotion or more esteemed job to give up something more valuable !

our culture overly prizes the top dog jobs – and even tho salary is important and pay matters
    – at the end of the day the truly contented are the ones who dig deep to “be” and who can be content with little – because then and only then can other things add to continentment without being a distraction.
I know you know much of this and you have grit with your travels and adventures –
And of course you know that I believe God opens and closes doors because he ultimately knows what we need long term – and so sending you a blog high five and thx again for the morning of color ! Xxoo

  4. Awesome fireworks display Rommel. This is something I am challenged to capture in photos. As for the promotion, I have no doubt it will be yours when the time is right. You have some a beautiful spirit so I will believe that this will bring good things your way.

  5. Being patient for our life to unfold can be difficult but you have a great attitude Rommel. Be persistent in visualizing your dreams and goals, you deserve them. The fireworks look amazing and alive! 🙂

  6. Beautifully written, Rommel:) You have the perfect attitude toward life:) Hoping the promotion comes your way soon. You did a fantastic job capturing the spectacular fireworks!!

  7. I still have to learn how to capture fireworks and you have some great shots here.
Sometimes life is a bitch, but as long as you keep your head up, and keep going, the opportunity will present itself. Don’t think about it, just do it!

  8. The fireworks displays lasted for an hour and half! And so, I had a lot of time to practice and experiment taking fireworks pictures while enjoying the spectacles.
Thank you all for the kind words and encouragements. I really need to keep my focus in check. It has been frustrating, but I’ll keep on pushing and trying.

  9. OMG these are magnificent !!! What a specter. I can only imagine what those moments must be like. Spectacular photos!
