Asakusa Temple and Skytree Tower in Tokyo, Japan

Is Skytree worth it? I’m letting you be the judge.

Skytree is the highest tower in the world, and second tallest structure.

e

The tower has a total height of 634m. It offers a 360 overlooking view of the entire city of Tokyo, Japan. The panorama is incredible!

f

In a good day, you can see mountains including Mount Fuji.

d

The first observation level takes you up 350 meters (1148 ft).

The second one is 450 m (1476 m).

The height is not frightening, unless you are completely scared of heights. They have a little section of glass floor, but even that is not dizzying.

The prices are 2570 yen (approx $24) for the first level and a total of 3600 yen (approx $33-34) to get to the second level. Additionally, the line can get very long and that visitors might have to wait 40 mins to an hour or even more. For international visitors, you can bypass the queue by paying 2820 yen instead of 2570 yen.

Is it worth it?

Before coming here, me and two other friends strolled around Asakusa Temple. It is a walking distance from Skytree.

Asakusa is also a great place to buy Japan souvenirs.

I just think that the price is too expensive. I cannot take away that the view is magnificent, but I can name many other city overviews that can measure up to what I’ve seen here for a better price, and some even free. I like the experience. I wasn’t going to let that kind of travel opportunity to be inside the tallest tower in the world.

Here is a little play on the cityscape…

  1. Do they have a weather forecast that informs you of approaching earthquakes? If so I’d be checking it before I ventured up that tower! You’ve been to many places Rommel but that isn’t the prettiest view I’ve seen you post, a bit of a concrete jungle! Even so, still a great experience not to be missed.

    • Yeah, I was wondering about that. It said that the tower is “earthquake proof”. Whatever technical explanations they give, I would not believe it. Even so, I’m always a happy go lucky kind of guy. 😉 If I were to die, I’d rather die while on travel anyways. 😀

  2. Wow, I wouldn’t pay to see that concrete jungle view!. I would rather sit in nature and soak up the stillness. Great pictures of all of it Rommel and my favorite is the last shot.

  3. Nice trip! If you have a time at the end of August, you can think of visiting Asakusa, again. They held a Samba Carnival!

    • I don’t know how people suffer from vertigo, but I really think that this is nothing dizzying. It’s just like a room you walk on with concrete jungle views from the windows.

  4. I’d say it’s worth it especially if you get there by sunset and see the beautiful city lights at night. Also, it’s nice to go there around December to see the illumination and the Christmas decors, it’s quite pretty! Love Asakusa and all the trinkets you can buy there. That’s another place that’s really pretty at night because of all the lights. Great photos by the way, looking at it makes me miss Japan ecen more. How I wish it’s just a drive away or even better if I can teleport then I can be in many places at once! Bucket list check! Hahahaha!
