Yosemite is my Everest. My dream come true.

The Sophomore Slump Recommends

Music: Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams – Get introduced to Alt Country by a musical genius of this one of the most heartbreaking albums of all time.

Movie: Whiplash – This film lashes however much it bleeds. Just give it to JK Simmons. He better have the grand slam for his acting performance.

Here is Rushing or Dragging scene …

Just entering right pass the gate, Yosemite lets me know how grand it truly is.

Eye-popping. Majestic. Everywhere you look is at large. You cannot size anything. All of us humans and manmade creations are just babies and tiny toys compared to the scales of the nature grandeur Yosemite has displayed for us.

I am not superior.

Yosemite is a beauty.

Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake

I was awe-striken by its splendor.

Captivating. Too stunning. At times, I feel like I don’t deserve to gawk at it (seriously!).

Upper Yosemite Falls

Having gone to one of my dream locations. I feel like gone through every where.

I am blessed. I am grateful.

I felt so complete.

Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls

Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls

Yosemite took me to so many unimaginable places.

Yosemite became like the mother of them all.

I know I won’t be able to get to all my dream travel destinations. With Yosemite, I feel so content. I was gifted this Christmas in which I am humble for.

I wish you all the best of luck next year especially with some of your hopes, dreams and aspirations.

I am very happy.

  1. Agree with you, Yosemite has been my all time favorite national park. In all our travels none has surpassed it yet. Maligayang Pasko Rommel. And hope your new year bring you more glad tidings and adventures where ever you will be.

  2. Ack! We JUST SAW Whiplash yesterday afternoon in an interesting old theater in Atlanta, The Tara, that specializes in independent films. LOVED IT. We’re still talking about the performances. So glad you posted a clip of it on your blog…more people need to see this movie!! And I’ve always wanted to go to Yosemite, your photographs are a compelling reason to go soon! Beautiful! I hope your holidays were wonderful, and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours!! Elisa

    • I just saw it recently too. I’m very happy for thise kinds of theaters that are showing these great films. Whiplash was aired early this year, and it’s nice that there are theaters out there that are reshowing it at the end of the year, even til now.

  3. Rommel, your pictures brought back a lot of memories. And I like them a lot because they look much better than mine! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for sharing. Helen

  4. Nature, in all her splendor, certainly has ways to not only humble but ‘reground’ us. Happy that you had the experience, Rommel, and that you are happy! Your photos beautifully augment the simplicity and power of your words.

  5. This set of photos is so impressive, Rommel that I pinned it on Pinterest. You lucky dog! One of my bucket list things to do is to go horseback riding (preferably for a at least a week (like my rear-end could handle it anymore)) in Yosemite park. I hear (and see by your photos) the whole park is breathtaking. Thank you once again for such a wonderful share. πŸ™‚

  6. Ah just gorgeous! Reminds me of my life in British Columbia in the mountains. Incredible scenery and fabulous photos Rommel! Forest, mountains and streams – what more could a person want! Happy Holidays to You! πŸ™‚

  7. I love Yosemite- great shots! I have to bring the family there one day. I noticed no snow for Christmas- that’s good to know. The first time I visited was after a big snow and we brought cross country skis to get around. Happy holidays!

    • There were snows. It’s just not raining with snow. The Badger’s Pass was in full service for skiing. My car is blue and by morning it’s white! πŸ™‚

      • Okay- that makes more sense! You must be an expert with the tire chains… I’m not a big on driving in snow after growing up in the Midwest and living in Western New York.. Glad you drove safely out there.

  8. Yosemite is truly magnificent and I have many photos of it in scrapbooks. However, I miss the fire fall, and the warmth of the lodge. During the weekend, it is jam-packed with people and party goers that detract from the scene. I will never forget leaving our snow-covered cabin to enter a brightly lit hall full of people singing Christmas carols. That was a special memory, and I am grateful.

    • Oooh, I would like to see your pictures? πŸ™‚ We were there during Christmas. I’m actually glad it wasn’t raining with snows. That’s gonna be tough for me to handle.

  9. Wohoo someone been going all Tarzan mode on the Trek ! So happy that you got to one of your dream travel destination as Christmas present! So glad to see you this happy and content. Have a glorious new year Rommel ! Sending all the good vibes your way! ❀

  10. Wow, great series of photos, such an incredible place I imagine and your photos and writing is a perfect introduction to Yosemite… One day I hope to visit ~ it is this great National Park that I’ve heard so much about that it holds a mystic feeling in my mind. Very cool that you were able to explore and see it in its full glory over Christmas. Cheers to a great ’15 Rommel, to more of your adventures!

Also, the movie Whiplash looks pretty good πŸ™‚ I like those actors.

  11. Now those are really awe inspiring photos Rommel . Not often you can say a dream has come true …. I can feel your absolute pleasure and exhilaration you’ve found there in your surroundings in Yosemite . Must admit …*rather envious πŸ˜‰
Happy new year and lots more dreams ….

    • You know what … I was going to sugarcoat my reply …. but yeah, Having been to Yosemite is something to be jealous about. Ahihihi πŸ˜€

  12. I love your blog; your photos are beautiful You might want to check out mine. Please have a blessed day.

  13. thanks for showing us this majestic place – love the mirror lake – and the shots of you in this natural abyss are cool…
and I am going to have check out that movie – have a nice week Rommel πŸ™‚

  14. Splendid Rommel! Tiny toys? That makes me remember that when I was a child I wondered one day “What if we are only small creatures living in a mockup of somebodyΒ΄s world (for me the real world)? Maybe I was impressed by the immensity of the world. Happy New Year 2015!
    Kind greetings,

  15. Beautiful photos and I love the mirror lake!!! Visiting this place has been in my bucket list for the last 4 years and I plan to really cross it off my list this year. πŸ˜€ How’s the drive up there by the way?

  16. We love Yosemite! Lived about 2 hour from there for a long time! It felt like it was “our” national park! But, I must say, Glacier National Park is my favorite! Enjoyed your post! Made me homesick for “my” park!

Don't be shy to say hi.
