What a compliment from a cashier!
Sheย carded me to see if i’m old enough to buy alcohol? ๐Ÿ˜€

Today my fortune cookie reads: You will live a long, fulfilling, rich and happy life…
… only if you order another egg roll. Bwahahaha ๐Ÿ˜†

Did anybody watch Titanic in 3D?
So since it’s in 3D, did the captain see the iceberg then? Ahihihi ๐Ÿ˜€

The ice cream truck has ice cream in it. Garbage truck has garbage in it. So why doย we call it “fire truck”? And if my place is on fire, I wouldn’t want to call a “fire” truck to come over. Shoudn’t it be calledย a water truck instead? ๐Ÿ˜‰

So I was driving in LA. You know how traffic can get there. I was with a parent and a kid in the car. The kid asked, “Why are there so many cars?”. I replied jokingly, “Because there’s traffic”. He asked again, “Why is there a traffic?”. I joked back, “Because there are so many cars.”

Why do people say “I hate to be the bearer of the bad news….”?
Geez,ย if I’m the receiver of the bad news, I don’tย think your bad news bearing feeling is gonna be the utmost importance.

I just came out of a particular room.

Someone: How did you do?
Me: Just fine.
Someone: How did the result came out?
Me. Good.
Someone: So what’s your score.
Me: Hmmm… about 8 out of 10.
Someone: There’s only 10 questions!
Me: What questions!?
Someone: You took that test, right?
Me: Oh no, I didn’t. I thought you were asking how I did there inside the restroom.

bwahahahahaha! ๐Ÿ˜†

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. Just remember… There’s always tomorrow … …. …. unless you die today. ๐Ÿ˜€

Last Call…

Music: Rip Tide by Beirut.ย An instant indie classic. A favorite of mine as a driving companion.
Movie: Blue Valentine by Derek Cianfrance. Blue Valentine takes the arrow and then hard-hittingly throws it back to Cupid. It so real, so honest that it completely discolorizes the rainbows of romantic movies. Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams deserve the great recognitions.
Book:ย Stranger in a Strange Landย by Robert A. Heinlein. Everyone has their opinionย about this book. And that is what makes it a remarkable important literary work.

  1. I always enjoy your special report, Rommel! You really know how to put them together and make stories out of it. very cool! It’s not as easy as it looks…

  2. this a fun post! great photos! funny quips! daily grind capture! it can’t get any better than this, Rommel. and love the last call! ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks for sharing.

    • Oooh … Didn’t realise it’s out already. I’m torn between David Fincher and Christopher Nolan as the best director for me. I will sure watch Gone Girl. The cinematography looks so good. Well, that’s expected given it’s David Fincher.

  3. I love the Human Touch of your photos Rommel ! Every person with a unique story, a wonderful share ! This had become my most favorite photos by you! ^.^
Last but not least, Thank you for sharing your photograph in the vortex of that cave. I do have a question, ‘Are you Batman?’ Don’t worry your secret is safe with me. I won’t tell anybody. You can even delete my comment to remove the evidence ๐Ÿ˜€ lol

    P.S I love your header! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I never know what I’ll find here but it’s always something I can use. Thanks Rommel for the timely reminder. ๐Ÿ™‚ The child watching the sparkler is for me the most magical of images.

  5. Too funny! Love the photos too! I agree about the fire truck…wahahaha ๐Ÿ˜€ ….and that poor kid! He must’ve been confused! LOL! Oh and thanks for the tip about Blue Valentine. I definitely have to check that out. You might also like the movie Celeste and Jesse Forever. It’s a romantic comedy-drama but totally not the typical cheesy one. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Glad to share some laughs. Thanks for paying attention to the recommendation. Blue Valentine is true to the bone! I watched the trailers for your recommendations, i think I’m more curious on Jesse and Celeste Forever.

  6. Really fun post – and it should be called a water truck – yes indeed.
and your mix of photos really felt like a celebration of life – after reading and scrolling once, I scrolled again to try and pick a favorite photo – but I could not! wellโ€ฆ mane the surfer dude – which is a shock for me because not that into surfer shots – but the angle of the board has that shark fin feel and the water and the profile pose has this effort feel – just reminded me about how hard surfing is – and how even the skilled ones get a huge workout inโ€ฆ
I also loved the last one -down view in the tree. but another artsy thing I noticed was how you alternated the pictures -first 4 are to the left – next two are to the right – then one left – one right – well it is is subtle – and not sure if you planned it – but it added to a nice flow.
    Peace out โค

    • Whoa comment, prior. I’m floored with your observation. No, I didn’t set it up like that. My modus operandi is usually not putting my subjects as a centered shot. As for the placement, I just mix it all up trying to avoid two same pictures next to each other. I separated the kids pictures, music-related pictures, Japan pictures, performers pictures… You get the idea. The only I let be are the two beautiful women.
And thank you for the mention on the surfer dude. It was actually a lucky shot. It was a perfect split moment for me, and am proud of it.

  7. Such a lively series of shots (and you gotta love the cashier!)… A great variety of great photos, something I’ve come to expect from you along with witty commentary! Thanks Rommel for a great read as I end the day over here ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. George Carlin had a similar joke. Being that two digit numbers ending in 1 are called twenty-one, thirty-one and so on, shouldn’t eleven actually be called onty-one?

I still like that joke! ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. ๐Ÿ˜† and there is the photo that you once submitted for B&W Sunday. These are all epic. Whoever took that pic of you, did a tremendous job too ๐Ÿ™‚

Don't be shy to say hi.
